About Us

Our Mission

Social Workers at Round Lake High School are uniquely qualified staff members who work with students to help to improve their social/emotional health which aids in their academic success. Social workers engage with families to provide resources both within the school and the local community. Social workers work with students who have special education services on specific goals which are identified during evaluations and Annual Reviews.

Resources Offered

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students
  • Provide crisis intervention and collaborate with hospital and school staff and families to assist with the transition of students back to school setting after hospitalization
  • Collaborate with other mental health staff (school psychologists and school counselors)
  • Advocate for students’ needs with teachers and other staff in the school setting
  • Consult with academic staff regarding classroom behavior and dynamics
  • Participate in the development of positive behavior interventions
  • Coordinate with the Deans and Safety Assistants to de-escalate heightened situations
  • Help implement restorative justice practices school-wide
  • Provide mediation between students or students and staff members
  • Act as a community liaison for students and families
  • Provide education to staff regarding mental health topics
  • Work with school psychologists to develop Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans
