Dear Panther Community,

It is a tremendous honor and privilege to welcome you to Round Lake High School. As we begin this school year, there is a strong sense of energy and optimism throughout our building and among our staff. Our team is excited to provide a top-notch high school experience and inspire our students to reach their full potential in both academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Now entering my fifth year as principal and as a proud Round Lake High School alumnus, my commitment to this school and community runs deep. Round Lake has had a profound impact on my life and the lives of many around me. It is both a professional and personal privilege to serve in this role, helping to shape the experiences of the next generation of Panthers.

We will continue to be grounded in the core values that define what it means to be a Panther. These values not only guide us today, but will drive our collective efforts for years to come:

Looking ahead, I encourage all students to take an active role in their high school experience. This is a time to explore new curriculum, participate in clubs and athletics, and form lasting relationships. These experiences will help shape their future and should be both embraced and celebrated.

Finally, we view our time together at Round Lake High School as a partnership between school and home. We welcome collaboration with families and are committed to keeping student well-being at the center of all we do.

Es un tremendo honor y privilegio darles la bienvenida a la Escuela Secundaria Round Lake. Al comenzar este nuevo año escolar, se siente una gran energía y optimismo en todo nuestro edificio y entre nuestro personal. Nuestro equipo está entusiasmado por ofrecer una experiencia educativa de alta calidad e inspirar a nuestros estudiantes a alcanzar su máximo potencial tanto académica como extracurricularmente.

Ahora en mi cuarto año como director, y como orgulloso exalumno de Round Lake High School, mi compromiso con esta escuela y comunidad es profundo. Round Lake ha tenido un gran impacto en mi vida y en la de muchas personas cercanas a mí. Es un privilegio tanto profesional como personal servir en este cargo y ayudar a moldear las experiencias de la próxima generación de Panthers.

Mr. Frank Ranalli

I’m thrilled to start this new school year as the Associate Principal of Student Services at Round Lake High School!

My journey in Round Lake began in 2012, and it’s been an incredible honor to grow alongside this community. Before joining RLHS, I spent nine years at Magee Middle School, where I served as a Science teacher, Athletic Coach (football, wrestling, softball, and track), Dean of Students, and Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction. In every role, my mission has remained the same: to create a supportive, motivating, and student-centered environment where all learners can thrive.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and master’s degrees in both General Education and Educational Leadership. For the past eleven years, I’ve proudly called Round Lake home. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Amanda, and our four boys—Frankie, Jake, William, and Charlie. Whether we’re watching movies or exploring the outdoors, family time is my favorite way to recharge.

I’m excited for what this school year holds, and I look forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to make it our best yet!

Al embarcarnos en la emoción de otro año escolar, estoy encantado de seguir sirviendo a la comunidad de la Escuela Preparatoria de Round Lake como el Subdirector de Servicios Estudiantiles.

Mi trayectoria en la comunidad de Round Lake comenzó en el año 2012, y ha sido un gran honor crecer junto con nuestros estudiantes, sus familias y el personal escolar. Antes de formar parte del equipo administrativo de la preparatoria, pasé nueve años dedicado a la Escuela Secundaria Magee. Durante mi permanencia ahí, tuve el privilegio de servir en múltiples roles, entre ellos Maestro de Ciencia, Entrenador de Deportes (fútbol americano, lucha libre, softbol y atletismo), Decano de Estudiantes y Subdirector de Currículo e Instrucción.  A pesar de que estos roles varían en alcance, mi misión principal ha permanecido la misma: cultivar un entorno de apoyo, motivación y centrado en los estudiantes, en el que cada aprendiz tenga los recursos y ánimo necesario para prosperar. 

El acercamiento que tengo hacia el liderazgo educativo está fundamentado en una base académica diversa. Tengo una licenciatura en aplicación de la ley (ciencias policiales), una maestría en Educación General y otra maestría en Liderazgo Educativo. Este trasfondo impulsa mi compromiso a fomentar espacios seguros, inclusivos y académicamente rigurosos en el cuerpo estudiantil.

Round Lake no sólo es donde trabajo, sino dónde está mi corazón. Durante los últimos doce años he llamado a esta comunidad mi hogar, y estoy orgulloso de ello. Fuera de mis responsabilidades profesionales, amo pasar tiempo con mi esposa Amanda, y nuestros cuatro hijos: Frankie, Jack, William, y Charlie. Ya sea que estemos disfrutando una noche familiar viendo una película o explorando el exterior, pasar tiempo con ellos sigue siendo mi mayor fuente de inspiración y balance.

Estoy muy animado por lo que nos espera este año y me emociona poder colaborar con nuestros estudiantes, sus familias y el personal escolar para asegurar un año lleno de colaboración, de impacto y de éxito.

Mr. Jeff Nieman

I'm excited to begin my first year as the Assistant Principal of Educational Services at Round Lake High School.

As Assistant Principal, I oversee the Special Education Department and work closely with students, families, teachers, and support staff to ensure that every student receives a high-quality, inclusive education. I believe that strong relationships, open communication, and collaboration are the foundation of student success. Every student has unique strengths and potential, and my goal is to help create an environment where they feel supported, challenged, and valued.

I have spent my entire career in special education and am passionate about advocating for students and helping them reach their full potential. I hold master's degrees in Special Education and Educational Leadership/School Administration, and I am committed to working alongside our dedicated staff and families to provide the best possible educational experience for every student.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife, Lizzi, and I enjoy taking motorcycle trips through the scenic backroads of Wisconsin and spending time camping. I look forward to getting to know the students, families, and staff at Round Lake High School and being a part of this outstanding school community.

Estoy emocionado por comenzar mi primer año como Subdirector de Servicios Educativos en la Escuela Preparatoria Round Lake.

Como Subdirector, yo superviso el Departamento de Educación Especial trabajando de cerca con los estudiantes, sus familias, los maestros y el personal escolar de apoyo para asegurar que cada estudiante reciba una educación superior e inclusiva. Creo que las relaciones sólidas, la comunicación abierta y la colaboración son el fundamento del éxito estudiantil. Cada alumno tiene fortalezas únicas y potencial, y mi meta es ayudar a crear un entorno creativo en el que sientan que reciben apoyo, son desafiados y valorados.

He pasado mi carrera entera en educación especial y me apasiona abogar por los estudiantes y ayudarles a alcanzar su potencial completo. Tengo maestrías en Educación Especial y Liderazgo Educativo/Administración Escolar, y me comprometo a trabajar junto con el personal escolar dedicado y las familias para proveer la mejor experiencia educativa posible para cada estudiante.

Fuera de la escuela, disfruto pasar tiempo con mi familia. Mi esposa Lizzi y yo disfrutamos viajar en motocicleta recorriendo las pintorescas carreteras secundarias de Wisconsin y acampando. Estoy emocionado por conocer a los estudiantes, sus familias y el personal escolar de la Escuela Preparatoria de Round Lake y formar parte de esta comunidad escolar sobresaliente.

Mrs. Kimberly Botts

After 14 years as a member of the Panther community, I am excited to begin this school year with you all as your Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction at Round Lake High School. 

Throughout my career here, I have worked closely with our educators to build a learning environment where every student can thrive. I spent eleven years teaching English at RLHS before working for three years as a district English curriculum specialist. While I loved supporting teachers across the district, my heart missed the daily energy of having classes and building relationships with our students. Last year, I returned to the high school to teach and direct student testing.

In every role I’ve held, my favorite part has always been building relationships with our amazing students. Watching them discover the power of critical thinking and the endless opportunities education can open up for them is what drove me to step into school leadership. While I will miss having my own classroom, I am eager to help lead a school community dedicated to inspiring and empowering all students to thrive long after high school.

Outside of RLHS, I spend my time with my husband and three children, who have continually supported me in becoming the best educator I can be. I hold a bachelor’s degree in English from Northern Illinois University, a master’s degree in Teaching Reading from Olivet Nazarene University, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. In our free time, my family loves spending time outdoors and by the water to recharge—whether we’re camping, swimming, or fishing.

I am looking forward to our best year yet! Go Panthers!

Mr. Ethan Karolczak

I am extremely proud to be a part of the Panther Family.

I am a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University where I played football and majored in History with a double minor in Sociology and Secondary Education. I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. I have over 25 years experience in education as a teacher, coach, and athletic director. 

I am a firm believer that education-based athletics are an extension of the classroom where student-athletes have the opportunity to learn leadership skills and habits of excellence to prepare for and create successful futures. 

I live in Wauconda with my wife Karen and our two sons, Josh and Brian. Everyday, I look forward to working with our students, staff, parents, and the community to build champions in the classroom, on the court and field, and in life.

Estoy extremadamente orgulloso de ser parte de la familia de los Panther.

Me gradué de la universidad Illinois Wesleyan University, donde jugué fútbol americano y cursé la licenciatura de historia con dos concentraciones, una en sociología y otra en educación secundaria. Tengo una maestría en liderazgo educativo de la universidad Northeastern Illinois University. Tengo más de 25 años de experiencia en la educación como maestro, entrenador y director atlético. 

Creo firmemente que el deporte escolar es una extensión del aula, donde los estudiantes deportistas tienen la oportunidad de desarrollar habilidades de liderazgo y hábitos de excelencia para prepararse y construir un futuro exitoso. Nuestra misión es inspirar y empoderar a los estudiantes deportistas para que forjen un futuro próspero a través del programa deportivo Panther Athletics. Estamos creando una cultura de competitividad y responsabilidad mediante la práctica diaria de nuestros valores Panther PRIDE: Perseverancia, Respeto, Integridad, Disciplina y Esfuerzo.

Vivo en Wauconda con mi esposa Karen y nuestros dos hijos, Josh y Brian. Todos los días estoy entusiasmado por trabajar con nuestros estudiantes, el personal escolar, los padres y la comunidad para crear campeones en el salón de clases, en la cancha y el campo, y en la vida.
