Who We Are
CORE BELIEFS
- All athletes can display a high level of sportsmanship and be productive members of their teams
- Coaches must hold high expectations for both themselves and athletes
- Coaches must build healthy relationships with athletes
- Parent involvement and engagement is essential to our athletes' success
- Positive athletic community relationships depend on mutual transparency, trust, communication, and partnerships
Panther PRIDE Program
Each athletic season, 5 weeks are focused on teaching our core values. We will focus on one of our core values each week: Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Discipline, and Effort. This will continue for 5 weeks until we have covered each core value.
The hope is that this is an easy way to give our athletes some voice and ownership in our athletic program and to consistently recognize them when they are modeling our core values.
Here is what it looks like:
MONDAY:
- An email reminder is sent the Friday before, and the Monday of each week with potential talking points to discuss with our teams regarding the core value of the week.
- We engage our teams in a short, but meaningful discussion about what the value means to them, looks like in your sport and in life, obstacles they will face in living that value and ways to overcome them, etc. The key is to have the students engage in the discussion with the coach(es) as facilitators.
- We tell them to be looking for examples of their teammates exhibiting the value throughout the week as they will be choosing a representative of that value at the end of practice on Thursday. This is done for each level of our programs.
THURSDAY:
- We ask our players for 3 nominations of teammates who demonstrated the value of the week. Nominators must give specific examples of why they are nominating their teammate; nominators cannot nominate themselves.
- Teams vote for their representatives. This is done at each level of your program (3 levels = 3 Perseverance representatives)
FRIDAY:
- Representatives get their PRIDE T-shirt and have their picture taken
- We will recognize the winners each week on social media, on our website, in the staff newsletter, and in the morning announcements
- Winners will also have their names posted on the recognition board in the weight room hallway
We do our Panther PRIDE program for 5 weeks each athletic season. All Seniors who are chosen will also be eligible to win the Panther PRIDE Award at the Senior Banquet at the end of the year.
