Curriculum Guide
Curriculum Guide and Course Selection Information
In December, students will be sent an email to their RLAS email with the Elective choices for the next school year. Students are strongly encouraged to show this to their parents/guardians and discuss their choices with them. Students should choose electives that fit their college and career goals, as well as their interests. (For example, college-bound students should strongly consider taking world language at least 2 years, 4 years of math, etc. See the RLHS Career Pathways Information link below as well.)
Additionally, teachers will make course recommendations in December for next school year. Beginning the second week of January, school counselors will be meeting with students individually to go over which core courses they were recommended for as well as their choices for electives. Please use the time and resources provided, both the elective sheet and the online Curriculum Guide, and ask teachers any questions about the course since elective choices will be final. Unfortunately, we will be unable to make changes to elective choices after meeting with the counselor. It is vital that students and parents take time to look through the elective options ahead of time. It is highly recommended that parents and students make these important decisions together!
Current 8th graders will be getting registration and elective information from their counselors as well in the next couple of months and will be assigned an evening in late January to come to the high school and meet with a high school counselor for course selection.
Please contact your school counselor with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
The RLHS Counseling Department
